In Adam Winkler's op ed that is called "Why banning assault rifles won't reduce gun violence"(2016), he advocates that eliminating assault weapons will not reduce gun violence. The author first argues that people mistaken the fact that machine guns were used in San Bernardino attack, by counterclaiming that there were no machine weapons involved; he then compares hand guns with firearms by stating that they both contain the same amount of lethality; and to conclude he claims that there are different ways to approach the issue of gun control by suggesting that simple background checks and investigating gun deals would reduce the gun violence. His purpose is to proclaim that gun control laws are not appropriate, in order to resolve and end gun crime and deaths, He seems to have a political audience in mind because he does not agree with laws that will do no affect on the safety of gun violence.

Summary: In the political Cartoon by Nate Beeler "Mass Shootings"(2015)published by The Cagle Post, the topic of regulating gun control is presented. Gun Control laws are failing to keep us safe from violence, such as mass shootings. Congress has not yet realized that damage Mass shootings brings to people, yet there's so little we can do to comfort the families that have suffered, since no progress is being made.
Analysis: Tragedies such as the San Bernardino mass shooting has caused an uprising movement to begin improving gun control laws. Since it is easily to purchase a gun, it is easy to be harmed by this gun. Maybe all the mass shootings could've been prevented if there were better gun control laws. Having stricter rules to posses a gun, is the first step in creating a safer community. The picture illustrate's a gun labeled with "mass shootings" going towards a thin net that is labeled "gun control". The reason why the net is so thin, is to represent the thin progress of gun control. So little progress is being made and the holes from the net are allowing the bullet to go inside and hurting the people and their family. The chaotic damage is shown with the fire cloud in back of the bullet, indicating that the bullet itself holds a destructive effect. The picture itself explains a clear representation of mass shootings and gun control, since the author labeled the gun and the net. The predicament is clearly shown to the audience as well, because of the thin net that represents gun control. The thin net cannot protect everyone from violence, especially mass shootings. After gun tragedies occur, there is not much that can be done. The emotional pain the families go through, hurt the president because there is so little he can do. All he can do is wait for congress to come into an agreement, but still has not yet to fixed gun violence.
